Tips for taking good care of your car in 2023!

Welcome to the new and improved Tamara’s Automotive Blog! Today we’re going to share some car care tips that ever car owner should know in 2023.

To take good care of your car, it is important to:

  1. Regularly check and maintain the oil and fluid levels.
  2. Keep the tires properly inflated and rotated.
  3. Regularly check and replace the air filter and fuel filter.
  4. Get regular tune-ups and inspections according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  5. Keep the exterior and interior clean, including regular washing, vacuuming, and waxing.
  6. Avoid overloading the vehicle and avoid excessive idling.
  7. Don’t neglect warning signs and repair any problems as soon as they arise.
  8. Follow the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedule.
  9. Drive cautiously and avoid hard braking and acceleration.
  10. Store the car in a dry and covered area to protect it from the elements.

What are some other good interior car maintenance tips?

Here are three things you can do to take extra care of your car’s interior:

  1. Keep it clean: Regularly vacuum and wipe down the interior surfaces to remove dirt and dust. Use a mild cleaner specifically designed for cars to clean the dashboard, door panels, and upholstery. Avoid using harsh chemicals, as they can damage the materials.
  2. Protect it from the sun: Use a sunshade to protect the dashboard and seats from the sun’s harmful UV rays. This will help to prevent cracking, fading, and discoloration.
  3. Use seat and steering wheel covers: Use seat and steering wheel covers to protect the upholstery and steering wheel from wear and tear. This can also help to keep the interior looking new for longer. Leather or synthetic covers are good options, which will protect the seats and steering wheel from spills, stains, and UV rays.

When can we expect to see electric tow trucks in Canada?

Ever since Tesla revealed their Cyber Truck, the myth that electric trucks have no power or torque has been busted. Now, thinkers are wondering when we’ll start to see more commercial and government vehicles being electric. From public buses and ambulances to tow trucks, the possibilities for electric automobiles is endless. It would be a great push for Canada and inspiring for private sectors if we began to see electric powered fire trucks, cop cars and roadside assistance vehicles. However, it may be too soon for the technology to transition quite yet. After all, emergency vehicles need to be reliable, and there’s still risk in electric vehicles running low on battery in the middle of providing service.

Unlike conventional gas powered cars that can consistently be powered and gas levels observed, electric vehicles still have new technology and aren’t as reliable as gas or diesel powered vehicles. Therefore, I believe we won’t see electric tow trucks or other emergency vehicles prevalent on the roads of Canada until the technology becomes more reliable. But we’re very close to seeing that.

Once things like the Cyber Truck and electric 18-wheelers become common place, we can expect to see the transition of more vehicles entering the electric space.

I predict that by 2030 electric tow trucks will be common, although it may be another decade, up to 2040, before they completely replace gas powered tow trucks. We’d also need to see way more electric car charging stations around Canada in order to support the growth of electric vehicles on our roads. We’d need just as many electric car charging stations as we have gas stations now. In the meantime, I’ll be crossing my fingers.
